PET INSURANCE

As the costs for high quality pet care has increased, so has the need for pet health insurance.

Pet health care insurance was established in 1982 and is much more affordable than human health insurance. It provides many comparable benefits for accidental injuries and sickness. Also, it will provide for cancer treatment and surgery and orthopedic surgery, which often become cost prohibative for many pet owners. It typically will not provide coverage for inherited diseases. Some policies will provide coverage for dental care and vaccinations for an additional cost.

The types of policies will vary as to their coverage. The average cost is $30 per month with a range of $10 to $50 per month. The deductibles are generally low and most policies have limits of $2000 to $7000. Reimbursement is made directly to the pet owner.
